Mr. Ruraru’s Yard

Mr. Ruraru’s Yard is a puppet-theatre piece for family audience. Adapted from the award-winning book by the well-known Japanese illustrated book author Ito Hiroshi, it is a story about growing up which celebrates “the joy of sharing.” The main character Mr. Ruraru is performed by a puppet, accompanied by animals made of raw, unprocessed natural objects such as tree branches, leaves, or vines. The performance is a non-verbal piece that provides an enjoyable experience as actors’ body language and vocal mimicry evoke imaginations of the transformative charms of nature. Mr. Ruraru reminds us the wonder of love, friendship, and sharing, touching the hearts of both adults and children in a delicate way.
